Lenten affirmation, day 37

it’s April 1st so today I affirm that I am a fool. I’m a fool who believes the world can better. I’m a fool who believes that people want to be inspired to be their best selves. I’m naive enough to believe that dedicated individuals United in common cause can enhance the quality of life in a community. I buy into the ridiculous notion that people have goodness in their core and that original imago dei is not so tarnished. I am a silly man!

I am thankful for leftover Mac and cheese. I’m thankful for crepes. I’m thankful for people who want to educate young men. I’m thankful for Prince because his new album is pretty sweet. I’m thankful for people who can take a joke. I’m thankful for humor. I’m thankful for my new spiritual director. I’m thankful for my weird journey. I’m thankful for the feeling of spring. I’m thankful that my face doesn’t freeze this way:
