Lenten affirmation, day 14

When you get hired for a job, there’s an unspoken assumption (unspoken for me, anyway) that you got the job over some other candidates. Today, I got to hear my boss not only go to bat for me but assert my qualifications for my position. It was really good to have my skill set recognized by a woman for whom my admiration grows daily. The affirmation is that I’m worth fighting for, something I have been dying to feel.

Today I am grateful for my ex-wife. She is a great mother to our kids, she has kept a lot of balls in the air through the turmoil of the last year, and she’s the one who is there when the kids are sick or snowed in. Or both. She’s a good woman and we made beautiful kids together.

I’m thankful for my boss. I’m thankful for snow days despite my hatred of snow.
